Philosophy is defined as a theory underlying or regarding a sphere of activity or thought. Well, my theory is if I can add at least 10 new books to my Wishlist and move at least 5 older Wishlist selections to my TBR list every month, then life is a ice cream sundae. And if I can find those 10 books from at least 5 new blogs each month then that's the cherry on top.

Well, I've made it almost 5 years now, so for better or worse, I continue on. I tend to blog in spurts as the urge to be creative erupts. As I don't have an artistic bone in my body, you will see very few changes in the layouts. Hey, I'm a reader not an artist like so many of the awesome bloggers I follow. I know you don't always have the time but if you stopped and looked, take a half a minute and say your piece. Recommend a book that you have enjoyed or hated for that matter. Thank you to all who visit.
Oh, and I moved my Google Friend Connect info and share this buttons to the top, as without our friends, who are we?

Sassy and a Little Bad-Assy by Jessie Lane is LIVE!

Sassy and a Little Bad-Assy is LIVE!

 A Viking walks into a bar…
Nikki Wolf wished that was the beginning of a bad bar joke. Unfortunately, it was her crazy grandfather looking for her … dressed in full Viking regalia. All she had wanted was to get a few hours away from her slightly insane family.

… and gets thrown out on his ass by a sexy werewolf.
Cruz Morales started his first shift as a bouncer at the Thirsty Wolfe an hour ago. His boss said the place could get crazy, but Vikings? Really? At first, he couldn’t understand what the senile old man was shouting about. Then he spotted the sexy brunette hiding underneath a table. He didn’t know who the hell she was to the old man or why she was hiding, but the beast inside him knew one thing for sure: she would be his.

Publisher: Swoon Romance

Recommended for ages 16+. Includes scenes that depict drug use, teen sex, and sexual assault.
This book contains mature content and depiction of a seventeen-year-old girl’s rape at the hands of another student. It is a chilling first person point of view account of something that occurs across the country at parties just like the one depicted in this story, and we wanted the fictional account to feel raw and as devastating. We also understand that these scenes may be difficult and uncomfortable for some. We recommend this novel for readers ages sixteen and older.
“I cried, praying for him to finish. I closed my eyes and tried to envision myself somewhere else… somewhere where I was happy. I thought of my family all piled around our tree on Christmas morning. I thought of singing with my band. I thought of Caitlin and me baking cookies and watching movies together. But after just a few seconds of pretending, Mike would hit me or thrust deeper, and I would be back in reality. I was being raped. I was all alone. I was a damsel in distress. And there was no one there to save me.”
Seventeen-year-old Stacey Lorenzo’s poor self-esteem has always consumed her. When significant weight loss leaves her still feeling powerless and with an eating disorder, she turns to partying to cope. Things go from bad to worse when she is raped, a crushing blow to her psyche from which she may not recover. Stacey drugs, cuts, and hooks up with countless guys in an attempt to dull the pain. But if Stacey doesn’t find a way to face her demons and overcome her fears, she might find herself in a hole so dark, even love won’t be able to pull her out.
Barren is written by debut author Elizabeth Miceli. It is a devastating and dark account of one girl’s plummet to the very bottom of the human experience and the horrific and petrifying road to recovery and self-worth.

Levi Adams is a soft spoken, middle-aged Mennonite man—at least he tries to be when he’s not murdering people.

Levi’s a golem, a Mudman, crafted from the muck, mire, and corpses of a World War II concentration camp—killing is just a part of his DNA. He doesn’t like it, but unfortunately he’s been saddled with a divine commission to dole out judgment on those who shed innocent blood. After seventy years as a cold-blooded murder machine, however, Levi’s trying to change his grisly nature. And the AA meetings and church services are helping. A little. But when he runs across a wounded girl, Sally Ryder, during one of his “hunting expeditions,” he realizes self-help may have to go on the back burner.

Someone is attempting to revive a pre-Babylonian murder god, and the road to rebirth is paved with dead bodies. Lots and lots of them.

Now, Levi must protect Ryder—the key to an unspeakable resurrection—and defeat a Nazi mage from Levi’s murky past. But the shadowy mage holds a terrible secret about the Mudman’s unorthodox birth, one offering insight into Levi’s morbid compulsion for bloodshed. It’s a secret Levi would pay anything to uncover: maybe even Ryder’s life. If Levi isn’t careful, he may end up turning into the monster he always imagined himself to be.

  • Awakening
    June, 1943
He blinked his eyes open for the first time: a newborn stealing his first look at the world,
which, in a way, is exactly what he was. Except no squealing, rosy-cheeked infant had ever been
so big, so ugly, or so filled with blood-boiling rage. Never had a child been so appalling. He
squinted at first, letting in only the merest trickle of light because even the wan illumination from
the moon, which loitered over the world like a fat thumbnail, was harsh to his virgin eyes.
Smells came next: the scent of musky earth, the harsh tang of powdery slaked lime—used
to mask the reek of decay—and buried beneath that, the sour stink of rotten flesh and burnt hair.
The sky spit down a misty drizzle, fine droplets of cool water that turned his gray skin
slick. After a few moments more his eyes adjusted fully, allowing him, at last, to survey his
surroundings. Mud and muck, deep brown and goopy, lined everything. It squished beneath his
shoulder blades, clung to his arms and legs, and liberally coated the corpses crudely piled to his
right. Despite the mud, the bodies appeared almost white, like angry specters waiting for him,
welcoming him to this new hell with silent screams and vacant eyes.
How he knew anything was beyond him, since this was the first day of his life, the day—
or rather night—of his unnatural birth. Surely, no baby pushed and fought its way into the world
with dark and grisly thoughts of murder and death lingering in its mind, with knowledge of mass
graves, heinous experimentation, and hasty executions. But he knew such things. Fragments of
memories floated and swirled inside his skull, dancing a slow funeral dirge, parading incoherent
snatches of imagery through his head.
The Wehrmacht march through the streets in their black spit-shined boots and high-
collared, gray wool uniforms. Smart and dashing, those uniforms, dressing up the face of murder
    in civility and pageantry …
The Luftwaffe soars overhead. The buzz of the single-prop Focke-Wulf and the
thunderous roar of the colossal Messerschmitt transport planes fill the air with their racket …
He clutches a small boy to his chest, his body trembling as he hides, holding his breath
for fear of being heard. Terror and panic wriggle in his guts as the black-garbed Schutzstaffel—
the SS—make their way from door to door, fists rapping on wood, rifle buttstocks smashing out
windows, booted feet kicking their way inside …
Then, train cars, loaded to capacity, roll through his thoughts. Bodies press up against one
another so tightly he can’t breathe—except he isn’t a he, but a she. And she is searching for her
sister. They’d been separated in all the chaos …
So many images, circling around, each screaming more loudly than the last, each
demanding he lend them an ear or an eye or a hand. He clutched at either side of his head. Broad,
fleshy palms pressed in as though he could simply pulverize the images and send them back to
whatever nightmare they’d come from. But they kept coming, and as they came—faster and
faster, like a hail of automatic machine gunfire—his chest began to itch and burn. It felt like
someone had taken a cherry-red fire iron and jabbed it into the meat covering his breastbone.
A huge hand flew to the pain, his fingers finding crude markings etched directly into the
skin, cut deep into the muscle below. As he touched the mark, the jagged wound, the voices and
visions coalesced into a single demand. A demand for retribution. The anger came next, flowing
from the brand like gasoline pumping through his veins, scorching his insides and propelling him
to action. He lumbered to his feet, the muck squishing around his thick toes, and made for the
muddy wall of his earthen womb. In reality, an open grave. He dug his digits in and used his
flabby, though powerfully built, arms to pull himself upward and free.
  • He lay on the edge of the pit for a long beat, charting the lay of the land, eyes scanning
the dark, which covered everything like a velvety blanket. In the distance, not so far off, he saw a
squat building. Some sort of bunker, outlined by the faint glow of light bulbs. He wasn’t
surewhat he was. Where he was. Or how he’d gotten there. But, as the brand burned in his chest,
he was certain of one thing: someone—or, perhaps, lots of someones—had quite the butcher’s
bill to account for, and he was ready to collect.
Hey all, my name is James Hunter and I’m a writer, among other things. So just a little about me: I’m a former Marine Corps Sergeant, combat veteran, and pirate hunter (seriously). I’m also a member of The Royal Order of the Shellback—’cause that’s a real thing. I’ve also been a missionary and international aid worker in Bangkok, Thiland. And, a space-ship captain, can’t forget that.

Okay … the last one is only in my imagination.

Currently, I’m a stay at home Dad—taking care of my two kids—while also writing full time, making up absurd stories that I hope people will continue to buy. When I’m not working, writing, or spending time with family, I occasionally eat and sleep.

Mercy’s family is back together and the threat of danger appears to have passed. But any relief she feels is short lived as she is ripped from her body and thrown in jail. Gage and Nathaniel’s plans to break Mercy out won’t exactly be easy. Stuffed full of a chemical binding agent, Mercy is trapped inside the body of a convict without the ability to breach and set herself free. Unfortunately for Mercy, being trapped in jail becomes the least of her problems when she meets her evil twin, Justice.

A girl’s sweet sixteen party is supposed to be among the most memorable events of her life. But on the night of hers, Mercy Clare wakes in the waiting room of a hospital with no memory of how she got there. To make matters worse, she’s wearing something she’d never be caught dead in: her best friend Lyla’s clothes.

Mercy’s nightmare is just beginning. The doctor arrives to tell her that it’s she who lies in the hospital bed waiting to die. A trip to the bathroom confirms Mercy’s fears, as Lyla’s face stares back at her and Lyla’s curvy figure pokes through her tight clothes.

But finding out what’s really going on won’t be easy. Because if Mercy wants her body back, it might just cost her Lyla’s life.

Date of Publication: August 30th

Blood is thicker than water…but can it melt a heart of ice?
Adelaide Miller gave up everything she knows to remain in Prince Zayne Godfrey’s alternate reality and assume her rightful place as eldest princess in the rival kingdom of Forath.
For an independent, free-spirited woman, however, royal life isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. In fact, it’s downright smothering. Especially since the vengeful Rosalind has gone AWOL.
Zayne is eager to wed Princess Addie—but their fathers seem more intent on keeping them apart. The longer Rosalind goes missing, the more suspicious each monarch becomes that the other
 is guilty of foul play.
But both kingdoms may soon face a strong, new rival intent on gaining power foretold by an ancient prophecy. To protect their chance at happily ever after, Zayne and Addie must partner with unlikely allies to save the one person intent on destroying them both.
But victory will not come without a price, and in the end, someone may have to pay—in blood.

“…How long has it been since you stretched your wings, went on a leisurely flight?”Tristan bristled. “I am unfamiliar with your customs in Edana, Prince Zayne, but here in Forath, those responsible for protecting our kingdom have little time for leisure.”“A pity, that.”“How so?”Zayne bent to press a kiss upon his betrothed’s hair. Its silken strands tickled his chin, andher scent washed over him anew. His enjoyment in the continued battle of wits with her prick of a brother waned and was replaced by the desire for a new activity. One that involved himself, Adelaide, and far less clothing. As if reading his mind, she shifted against him, teasing his length. Had they been alone, the temptation to take her now, here in the stables, might have been too great to resist. The thought of her naked body stretched out willingly beneath him spurred Zayne to cease his battle of words and hasten their retreat.“Because to fly often is not only good for the soul, but also serves to strengthen your wings and keep your battle skills keen.”“Of course. But as Adelaide cannot fly, she need not join you. It is her studies that should be my sister’s primary focus prior to your upcoming wedding.”“Then I shall tutor her on your family’s lineage while we are away, as I am well versed inthe subject.” He leaned down farther, pressing a kiss to the hollow beneath her ear. She shivered in his arms as he murmured, “A few hours is all it should take.”“It won’t take anywhere near that long,” Addie whispered. Her breathy, musical voice spoke to the beast within. Three days was all that had passed since he’d seen her last, yet it seemed an eternity. His bed had felt empty, her soft skin achingly absent alongside his. Zayne took several more steps toward the door, guiding her with him. Tristan, however, continued to follow."I have every confidence in your tutoring skills, Prince Zayne, but my father issued strict orders that Princess Adelaide shall not leave the grounds unaccompanied."Addie tensed in Zayne’s arms. Of course a decree limiting her travels would create such areaction in his free-spirited nymph. When they first met a few short weeks ago, she had been traveling alone. To now be restricted by King Jarin’s rules was undoubtedly difficult for her.Ah, but he had ways to help ease her mind from these anxieties. Ways his body craved as much as the next breath. “An understandable decree, and one I pledge to uphold as her royal escort.”“That is Blackstone’s assignment,” Tristan said. “Not yours.”“Please, Tristan,” said Addie.
“Is Blackstone no longer your personal guard, then, my lord?” asked Zayne.Tristan’s eyes narrowed and remained fixed upon him, ignoring his sister’s plea. “He has been assigned to protect the royal family, Adelaide included.”“A difficult task when the prince and princess are in different locations, is it not?”“Indeed. But as we are both here at the present, I feel he is quite capable of offering protection to us both.”“I have no doubt in his abilities.” Zayne gripped Adelaide tighter with one hand and shoved the stable’s rear door wide with his other. “Unfortunately for you, the present has now passed.”As he summoned his transformation, the air around them began to whip and swirl, masking their escape in a cloud of dust and straw. The beast within wasn’t to be denied, and not asoul in Forath Castle could stop them. In an instant, they were airborne, Adelaide safe and securein his taloned grasp.
