BOOKS AND BLOGGING PHILOSOPHY

Philosophy is defined as a theory underlying or regarding a sphere of activity or thought. Well, my theory is if I can add at least 10 new books to my Wishlist and move at least 5 older Wishlist selections to my TBR list every month, then life is a ice cream sundae. And if I can find those 10 books from at least 5 new blogs each month then that's the cherry on top.

NEW VISITORS AND OLD- WELCOME!

NEW VISITORS AND OLD- WELCOME!
Well, I've made it almost 5 years now, so for better or worse, I continue on. I tend to blog in spurts as the urge to be creative erupts. As I don't have an artistic bone in my body, you will see very few changes in the layouts. Hey, I'm a reader not an artist like so many of the awesome bloggers I follow. I know you don't always have the time but if you stopped and looked, take a half a minute and say your piece. Recommend a book that you have enjoyed or hated for that matter. Thank you to all who visit.
Oh, and I moved my Google Friend Connect info and share this buttons to the top, as without our friends, who are we?

Breaking the Ice (Juniper Falls #2)
by Julie Cross
Publication Date: December 26, 2017
Publisher: Entangled Teen
The second book in the Juniper Falls series from NY Times and USA TODAY bestselling author Julie Cross, perfect for fans of Miranda Kenneally and Abbi Glines.

Haley Stevenson seems like she’s got it all together: cheer captain, “Princess” of Juniper Falls, and voted Most Likely to Get Things Done. But below the surface, she’s struggling with a less-than-stellar GPA and still reeling from the loss of her first love. Repeating her Civics class during summer school is her chance to Get Things Done, not angst over boys. In fact, she’s sworn them off completely until college.
Fletcher Scott is happy to keep a low profile around Juniper Falls. He’s always been the invisible guy, warming the bench on the hockey team and moonlighting at a job that would make his grandma blush. Suddenly, though, he’s finding he wants more: more time on the ice, and more time with his infuriatingly perfect summer-school study partner.
But leave it to a girl who requires perfection to shake up a boy who’s ready to break all the rules.

WHAT YOU MAY HAVE MISSED IN 2017:

Darkness can only be controlled by those with the darkest of hearts.
Ellison lost her mother at an early age. Now, sixteen, her father has found love again. He’s happy and doesn’t quite notice that Ellison does not get along with his new wife or her vicious daughters.
When Ellison discovers a necromantic tome while traveling the secret passages of her father’s mansion, she wonders if it could be the key to her eventual freedom.
Until then, she must master her dark new power, even as her stepmother makes her a servant in her own home. And when her younger brother falls incurably ill, Ellison will do anything to ease his pain, including falling prey to her stepmother’s and stepsisters’ every whim and fancy.
Stumbling into a chance meeting with Prince William during a secret visit to her mother’s grave feels like a trick of fate when her stepmother refuses to allow Ellison to attend a palace festival where she might see him once more.
But what if Ellison could see the kind and handsome prince again? What if she could attend the festival? What if she could have everything she’s ever wanted and deserved by conjuring spirits to take revenge on her cruel stepmother? And what if she actually liked watching her stepmother suffer?
As Ellison’s power grows, she loses control over the evil spirits meant to do her bidding. And as they begin to exert their own power over Ellison, it becomes harder to tell whether it is she or her stepmother who is the true monster.

Blog Tour & GIFs For THE NOVEMBER GIRL By Lydia Kang

The November Girl
 Lydia Kang
Publication Date: November 7, 2017
Publisher: Entangled Teen

I am Anda, and the lake is my mother. I am the November storms that terrify sailors and sink ships. With their deaths, I keep my little island on Lake Superior alive.
Hector has come here to hide from his family until he turns eighteen. Isle Royale is shut down for the winter, and there’s no one here but me. And now him.
Hector is running from the violence in his life, but violence runs through my veins. I should send him away, to keep him safe. But I’m half human, too, and Hector makes me want to listen to my foolish, half-human heart. And if I do, I can’t protect him from the storms coming for us.

The world building in The November Girl was easy—because it’s contemporary and it’s already exists!

The book takes place on Isle Royale, on Lake Superior. But the hard thing was—I’d never been there.

So there was a flurry of research, Google Earth perusing, book buying, and image hunting that I had to do to learn all about the area, the weather, the transportation, and what life was like on the island. Once I’d had a really good grasp, and I could literally see and feel my way around the island in my mind—then I wrote it.

Months later, I found a local who frequented the Island and could beta read the facts about the island for me, and then—finally—in August of 2016, I got to visit! It was breathtaking. So unspoiled, so lush and wild and beautiful.

And to top it all off? I was so sick on that trip. I’d gotten a terrible cold, and I felt just like Hector on that island (who gets sick in the book as well). It was kind of perfect!

Cover Reveal For RIGHT KISS. WRONG GUY. By Natalie Decker

Welcome to the Cover Reveal for
Right Kiss. Wrong Guy. (Offsides #2)
by Natalie Decker
presented by Swoon Romance!
Be on the lookout for this upcoming title!

What do you think of the cover?

You'd think a girl with the most romantic name in the world would have her pick of boyfriends.
But Valentine's Day sucks when you're single. Just ask Juliet Valentine, whose last name happens to also be the name of the most dreaded made-up holiday ever.
A romantic at heart, this year is especially hard on Juliet. Her sister, Layla, is in a new relationship, her mom's match-making business is doing great, and her school's new fundraiser is "Love-Grams."
Juliet's miserable, a little jealous, and lonely.
Quarterback Jared Black is the most popular guy in school. A star athlete, Jared tops the most-eligible bachelor list year after year. But to Juliet Valentine, he's all but invisible. She isn't impressed.
Jared's never had to work hard to get the attention of a girl before. Valentine's Day is fast approaching, and he's determined to ask Juliet out. After all, if Tyler can win over Layla, Jared ought to have a shot with Layla's sister.
Unlike Tyler and Layla, charm, flattery and good looks won't work on Juliet. So with the V-Day dance coming up, Jared uses the school’s Love-Grams to let Juliet know how he feels. Should be simple enough, right?
Wrong. Each attempt ends up either in the trash or thrown in someone's face. Juliet won't play his game.
Now, without a date to the dance Jared realizes it’s going to take a Hail Mary to win the girl of his dreams.

FAERIE ORIGINS

“A weeping stone.” Eldrick was reading over my shoulder.

His closeness made me jump in surprise. “A what?”

“It goes back to our pilgrimage into your world,” he explained.
“A very, very long time ago, even before the first songs. Our kind
came into this world through an ancient gateway, fleeing from an
unspeakable terror that was ravaging our own realm. Our home had
become a place of darkness and fear—a place without moonlight.”

My skin prickled. “What … kind of terror?”

Memories flickered in the depths of his silver eyes. “There is no
word for them in the human language. We called them skiia—the
devourers. They cannot be bargained or reasoned with. Their only
motive is to drain every drop of magic they possibly can, and as they
do, they spread like a plague.”

I swallowed and sank back in my seat.

“We came here as refugees after our own world was overrun,”
Eldrick murmured. “Humankind looked upon us with awe and
adoration. We made our home here, eager to share this beautiful
world with you, but not before sealing away the ancient gateway so
that the evil destroying our own homeland would never find its way
here.”

   “The Fibbing Gate,” I whispered.

Eldrick’s body shuddered at the name. “I was very young when
it happened. My memories of it have all but faded to nothing. In
that same way, such stories of the gateway have become myths. My
father told them to me as a child.” He ran one of his fingers over the
drawing on the page. “Weeping stones were said to guard it. They
stones are made of iron, which as you know has incredible power
against faerie magic, so that no one would ever be able to open it
again.”

“Why would my dad be interested in it?”

His expression steeled as he studied the page. “I don’t know,” he
finally admitted. “But there’s someone else who might.”
