BOOKS AND BLOGGING PHILOSOPHY

Philosophy is defined as a theory underlying or regarding a sphere of activity or thought. Well, my theory is if I can add at least 10 new books to my Wishlist and move at least 5 older Wishlist selections to my TBR list every month, then life is a ice cream sundae. And if I can find those 10 books from at least 5 new blogs each month then that's the cherry on top.

NEW VISITORS AND OLD- WELCOME!

NEW VISITORS AND OLD- WELCOME!
Well, I've made it almost 5 years now, so for better or worse, I continue on. I tend to blog in spurts as the urge to be creative erupts. As I don't have an artistic bone in my body, you will see very few changes in the layouts. Hey, I'm a reader not an artist like so many of the awesome bloggers I follow. I know you don't always have the time but if you stopped and looked, take a half a minute and say your piece. Recommend a book that you have enjoyed or hated for that matter. Thank you to all who visit.
Oh, and I moved my Google Friend Connect info and share this buttons to the top, as without our friends, who are we?

Francie’s brother Theo has secrets—secrets Francie thinks she wants to know. But what if one of those secrets is that Theo is a murderer? To avoid considering that possibility, Francie plunges into her senior year at a small-town high school near Enchantment Lake in northern Minnesota. It’s a radical change from her private school in New York, but she hopes to keep an eye on her great aunts and maybe finally learn more about the mother she never knew. A small silver box seems to hold the answers, and she is determined to get her hands on it.
But when her long-lost brother turns up, so does a dead body, and once again Francie is drawn into a mystery. A long list of suspects, with Theo at the top, keeps her head spinning. When Francie herself becomes a suspect she starts to feel like she is walking on thin ice, but it isn’t until she is literally walking on thin ice that the pieces start to come together—and by then it may be too late.

In her previous adventure Enchantment Lake, Francie was thrown into northern Minnesota lake living: fishing, berry picking, lost kayaks and scary boat rides, poisoned hotdishes, exploding bulldozers, a forest fire . . . and murder. But if she thinks things have settled down, she’s in for a surprise. A new school with new friends (and a few enemies), a lead role in a play, an encounter with a giant muskie, archaeological twists, secret tunnels, thin ice, and a strangely sticky murder are all coming her way in The Clue in the Trees.

Margi Preus is a New York Times bestselling author of several books for young readers, including the Newbery Honor book, Heart of a Samurai, the Minnesota Book Award winning West of the Moon, and Shadow on the Mountain, a Notable Book for a Global Society. New in 2015 is Enchantment Lake, a northwoods mystery, and The Bamboo Sword, which Bookpage says is “historical fiction at its best.”

“Margi Preus has a remarkable ability to create fascinating, page-turning stories that transport readers to faraway times and places. Whether she’s evoking Norway during World War II or 19th century Japan, Preus combines impeccable research with strong characterization and plot—the very elements that draw readers into history and spark the curiosity to learn more.” Bookpage, Sept. 2015

Holding Court by K.C. Held-

Genre: YA Mystery
Rating: ****
Publishers: Entangled Teen
(Mar 1, 2016)
Paperback: 352 pages
ISBN: 978-1633752276
FTC Disclosure: Copy provided by Publisher

Sixteen-year-old Jules Verity knows exactly what's in store at her new job at castle-turned-dinner-theater Tudor Times. Some extra cash, wearing a fancy-pants dress, and plenty of time to secretly drool over the ever-so-tasty--and completely unavailable--Grayson Chandler. Except that it's not quite what she imagined.
For one, the costume Jules has to wear is awful. Then there's the dead body she finds that just kind of...well, disappears. Oh, and there's the small issue of Jules and her episodes of what her best friend calls "Psychic Tourette's Syndrome"--spontaneous and uncontrollable outbursts of seemingly absurd prophecies.
The only bright side? This whole dead body thing seems to have gotten Grayson's attention. Except that the more Jules investigates, the more she discovers that Grayson's interest might not be as courtly as she thought. In fact, it's starting to look suspicious...

I love when a book actually makes you laugh out loud when reading it. While my husband generally ignores these outbursts, people at the restaurant, where my mother and I eat a couple times a week, though tend to move to tables further away for some reason.

Cover Reveal--The Foxglove Killings by Tara Kelly

The Foxglove Killings
by Tara Kelly
Release Date: 09/01/15
Entangled Teen

Gramps always said that when the crickets were quiet, something bad was coming. And the crickets have been as silent as the dead. It started with the murdered deer in the playground with the unmistakable purple of a foxglove in its mouth. But in the dying boondock town of Emerald Cove, life goes on.

For 17-year-old Nova Morgan, summer in coastal Emerald Cove, Oregon is about waiting tables at her hippie grandpa's diner and turf wars between the locals and the "cakes", their name for the rich summer residents. Nova hates the cakes. One of them broke her heart and spread vicious rumors about her. Then there's what they did to her shy best friend, Alex Pace, stripping him of his clothes and his dignity one night when he was just fourteen. Still, Nova won't settle for being a victim or some small town cliché. She's going to get out of Emerald Cove and pursue her dream of becoming a homicide detective, no matter what it takes.
But this isn't just another summer. Nova is developing feelings for Alex she doesn't want to have, but he's acting like a different person, keeping secrets and picking fights with the cakes. Then one of the cakes goes missing, and is found dead a week later, a foxglove stuffed into her mouth. A rumor goes around that Alex was last seen with the girl, bringing the tension between the cakes and the locals to an all-time-high.
When a second cake is found dead and Alex disappears, all evidence points to his guilt. There are only two people in town who think he's innocent--Nova and her worst enemy, Jenika Shaw. Nova and Jenika have to work together to uncover the truth, but doing so will put them both in the path of the killer . . . and the truth may be something neither of them are prepared
