BOOKS AND BLOGGING PHILOSOPHY

Philosophy is defined as a theory underlying or regarding a sphere of activity or thought. Well, my theory is if I can add at least 10 new books to my Wishlist and move at least 5 older Wishlist selections to my TBR list every month, then life is a ice cream sundae. And if I can find those 10 books from at least 5 new blogs each month then that's the cherry on top.

NEW VISITORS AND OLD- WELCOME!

NEW VISITORS AND OLD- WELCOME!
Well, I've made it almost 5 years now, so for better or worse, I continue on. I tend to blog in spurts as the urge to be creative erupts. As I don't have an artistic bone in my body, you will see very few changes in the layouts. Hey, I'm a reader not an artist like so many of the awesome bloggers I follow. I know you don't always have the time but if you stopped and looked, take a half a minute and say your piece. Recommend a book that you have enjoyed or hated for that matter. Thank you to all who visit.
Oh, and I moved my Google Friend Connect info and share this buttons to the top, as without our friends, who are we?

Review For THE KISS QUOTIENT By Helen Hoang-4*

Title: The Kiss Quotient
Series: The Kiss Quotient#1
Author: Helen Hoang
Genre: Romance, Graphic Sex
Rating: * * * *
Publishers:  Berkley
(June 5, 2018)
Paperback: 336 pages
ISBN:  978-0451490803
FTC Disclosure: Library Book
A heartwarming and refreshing debut novel that proves one thing: there's not enough data in the world to predict what will make your heart tick.

Stella Lane thinks math is the only thing that unites the universe. She comes up with algorithms to predict customer purchases — a job that has given her more money than she knows what to do with, and way less experience in the dating department than the average thirty-year-old.
It doesn't help that Stella has Asperger's and French kissing reminds her of a shark getting its teeth cleaned by pilot fish. Her conclusion: she needs lots of practice — with a professional. Which is why she hires escort Michael Phan. The Vietnamese and Swedish stunner can't afford to turn down Stella's offer, and agrees to help her check off all the boxes on her lesson plan — from foreplay to more-than-missionary position...
Before long, Stella not only learns to appreciate his kisses, but to crave all the other things he's making her feel. Soon, their no-nonsense partnership starts making a strange kind of sense. And the pattern that emerges will convince Stella that love is the best kind of logic...

Wow! After seeing how many reviews this book had I almost didn't bother.
First, as a courtesy to those that don't enjoy reading about graphic sex acts, while this is not erotica, it's close enough that it may make you uncomfortable. You can just skip these sections and you really won't lose much of the storyline.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story and though it wasn't bust out loud laughingly funny, it did have me smiling through a great deal of it. I don't think I've read a story where the main character has Aspergers and it was pretty fascinating seeing how the mind of someone who has Aspergers works. (Author was diagnosed with this disorder.) I also loved how the author wove Michael's Vietnamese heritage  into the story. A definite plus to the storyline.
Most of all though, I loved the meshing of Michael and Stella. I loved how brave Stella was with putting herself out there and trying to understand how a relationship "should" work. I loved how gentle Michael was with her and understanding of her syndrome, though she did not know that he knew.
It feels kind of weird to use the term "sweet" when speaking of the romance in this book after the graphic sex scenes but this really was a sweet romantic read.
If there was one flaw, it was (I felt) that Michael acted out of character by not being outraged that Stella had basically paid his mother's medical bills. I thought it would have been more in character for there to have been at least a mini spat over this. One other minor flaw, this book so deserved a better cover. Generally, I pay little attention to covers as I read mostly  on my Kindle but this sweet story deserved more. This was a great read that had me up most of the night and I didn't miss those couple of extra hours of sleep at all.

Ohhhhhhh. Damn.
Bryce ran and grabbed the suitcase I’d dropped. “I’ll take care of the bags.”
I barely nodded.
Hank stepped toward me. “I was hoping to run into you today.”
I stared into the greenish-brown eyes that swirled together like his brother’s, but instead of spinning me for a loop, they bored into my heart. Hard.
“Carmen?”
I heard Hank, but I couldn’t respond. I’m falling for a giant.
He gently touched my shoulder with a massive hand. “You okay?”
“No one’s ever done that.” Suddenly I felt like a young girl. I wrapped my arms around him—or what I could of his waist. “You’re my hero.”
He tipped my chin toward him, looked longingly into my eyes, lowered his head, and softly kissed me. His lips melded into mine, his heart beat against me, and my body responded, pressing into him with a mixture of tenderness and desire that had no beginning and no end.
“Gonzalez!”
Nothing like hearing my surname bellowed across the front drive to completely kill a romantic moment. Time of death, 12:35 p.m.
I pulled away from Hank, but not before staring into his eyes. “I don’t want you to vanish again.” I finally let my heart and not my head speak. “I don’t want you to leave.”
A devil-may-care grin crossed his face. “Now, who said anything about goodbye?”

Melanie Smith has spent her entire life waiting for her happy ever after. For a moment there, everything is hunky-dory until her boyfriend falls in love with another man. Trying to move on, she makes every effort to find "the one."

Watching everyone around her find love, leaving her knee-deep in spinster status, Melanie decides on a new path: become a surrogate for her ex-turned-best friend. She doesn't bargain on a two-for-one deal: a baby for bestie... and a new man.

Join Melanie on her journey as she navigates the highs and lows, the cravings and confusion of love and trying to find meaning in those three empty words.

“Melanie.” My name came out like a seduction, teasing me. I clenched my legs together, the pad that I was sitting on crinkling in response. The man was pure sex and everything he did or said jump-started my body. “Tell me about having this baby.” He glanced down at my chart. “It says here that you are going to be a surrogate.”

“I... um….” I looked away, my eyes finding a spot on the floor to focus on. I didn’t know what to say. Did he need to know the details? My hesitation must have shown, because he cleared his throat.

“If you’d prefer, I can transfer you to a female doctor. I know sometimes these things can be difficult to talk about. Dr. Phillips might be available.”

“No!” My voice was about three octaves too high. Okay, I sounded eager. Way overeager. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to freak out. It’s just hard to talk about.” I shifted on the table, the crinkling returning. “Dr….” I squinted, trying to remember his name. He never did introduce himself.

“Please call me Ashe.”

“Ashe,” I said with a smile. “Well, short version is my ex-boyfriend, now best friend, fell in love with a man, got married, and they’re having trouble adopting. They want to have a baby so they asked me, and here I am.” I pulled on the gown. Ashe cocked his head to the side, studying me curiously. Yup, he thinks I’m certifiable.

“Okay,” he said, looking away, but not before I caught his lips curve into a smile. Lips that look like they need a big fat kiss from yours truly.

“You’re a good friend to do all this.” He smiled as he went to the door and pressed a button. A moment later the same female nurse from earlier came in and went over to the counter and put gloves on. They snapped on her wrists, causing me to jump.

Release Blitz & Giveaway HER BOOK BOYFRIEND By K.R. Grace

Title: Her Book Boyfriend
Author: K.R. Grace
Genre: Mature YA Romantic Comedy

Release Date: August 25, 2017
Cover Designer: Okay Creations, LLC
Hosted by: Buoni Amici Press, LLC.

GR
She believes the secret to love is in the tropes of her favorite romance novels. He’s the best friend prepared to prove her wrong.
Then comes the bet.
If she can’t land a boyfriend for prom by recreating the ten popular tropes in her favorite romance author’s books, she has to go to the prom with her.
The glitch?
They’ve been close their entire lives. He’s the rock god and school legend, while she’s the brainy sidekick who does all his dirty breakups. Thus, finding a guy who doesn’t think they’re already an item is going to be a lot harder than she thinks.
Will she land the book boyfriend of her dreams? Or will she be forced to go to prom with her best friend.
The truth is in the pages.

He took in a deep breath and let it out. “Okay. Here’s what we’re going to do. I’ll let you prove me wrong, but if I’m right, you have to be my date to prom.”
“What?” My eyes flung open. “Why do you want to go to prom with me?”
“Because, like you said, prom isn’t supposed to be spent with someone you don’t know.”
“I figured you had an orgy extravaganza in the works for prom night.” I snorted.
He pulled the green pick from his pocket and began twirling it across his knuckles. “Nah, too wild for me. I don’t want to go down in high school history as the guy who banged a girl on prom night. Too cliché.”
I eyed him warily but he was right. If I wasn’t successful, it would be better to go to prom with my best friend than with some random guy I didn’t have a connection with. “Let’s say I go along with your bet. What’s in it for me if I win?”
His face twisted into the look he always gave me when he thought I was being dense. “You get your magical prom night with the guy of your dreams.”
As a child, K.R. Grace had an overactive imagination. When it was obvious she wasn’t going to change anytime soon, her mom shoved a pen and paper in her hand and said, “Write it down.” So, at the age of eight, her first story was born, and the writing hasn’t stopped since. When she’s not running with wolves, sleeping with bears, or flying with falcons, she can be found checking out local bands or watching movies about things that go “boo” in the night. She lives in East Tennessee with a dog that is afraid of his own shadow and a cat that was a mob leader in a former life.

Book Blitz & Giveaway For SMART TESS by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff

Smart Tass

Ohellno Series
by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff
Publication Date: April 11, 2017
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romantic Comedy

From New York Times Bestseller Mimi Jean Pamfiloff comes SMART TASS, a new Romantic Comedy.
He’s the hot quarterback all the girls want.
She’s the smart girl he loves to pick on.
And now that they’re all grown up, things are about to get geekin’ ugly…
My name is Tass. I’m smart, I’m driven, and I am determined not to let prankster Hunter Johnson continue raining on my parade. When we were little, he’d pull my hair and call me names. When we were teenagers, he’d throw food and tease me for being a flat-chested virgin.
But now that we’ve ended up at the same college, he’s out of his hot head if he thinks he can keep messing with my life. It’s like he’s fixated on me or something. Well, guess what, Mr. Amazefootball? I’m not that geeky little girl anymore and you do not screw with a smart woman.
So what’s my plan?
It’s definitely wild, and he’s about to find out…

EXCERPT
“Please, Tassie?”
I look at my pink low-top Converse, then at him, and back to the shoes. “Give me one good reason why I should help you?” Because I really, really need one. Especially since I feel like a complete moron for actually wanting to help him. It’s like I can’t resist rescuing the stray puppy who’s bitten me a thousand times.
“We’d be helping each other,” he explains. “I need a much cheaper place to live and you want to get into the Tri-Kapps.”
“Ah!” I say, holding up my index finger. “But do I want it badly enough to let everyone think you’ve taken my pristine chariot out for its maiden voyage?”
“Your…chariot?”
“What would you like me to call it? My vaginal membrane? My cherry? My flower of purity? The winner’s ribbon for my hump-day race?”
His handsome face contorts. “Chariot works.”
“Great. And you’re still not riding it.”
“I didn’t ask to. It’s just something we’ll let people think so I get the points. In exchange, for the next few weeks, I’ll dote when we’re around your uptight, intellectual elitist sorority sisters. And then you dump me. Simple.”
I give it some thought—what it would mean to allow the blemish on my reputation.
“Come on, Tass. You know this is the best option for us both. Paweeeze?”
I look at Hunter, who has giant blue, anime-saucer eyes and a lower lip that’s pouting for its life.
“No.” I shake my finger at him. “Not the puppy face, Hunter.”
He tugs on the hem of my T-shirt, his lower lip quivering. “Tassie…”
“Ugh. You are so juvenile. You know that, right?”
His face returns to its normal, annoyingly handsome perfection. “Yes. And thank you. You’re making the right choice.”
“Wait. I didn’t agree to—”
He leans down and plants a big wet, closed-mouth kiss on my lips.
