BOOKS AND BLOGGING PHILOSOPHY

Philosophy is defined as a theory underlying or regarding a sphere of activity or thought. Well, my theory is if I can add at least 10 new books to my Wishlist and move at least 5 older Wishlist selections to my TBR list every month, then life is a ice cream sundae. And if I can find those 10 books from at least 5 new blogs each month then that's the cherry on top.

NEW VISITORS AND OLD- WELCOME!

NEW VISITORS AND OLD- WELCOME!
Well, I've made it almost 5 years now, so for better or worse, I continue on. I tend to blog in spurts as the urge to be creative erupts. As I don't have an artistic bone in my body, you will see very few changes in the layouts. Hey, I'm a reader not an artist like so many of the awesome bloggers I follow. I know you don't always have the time but if you stopped and looked, take a half a minute and say your piece. Recommend a book that you have enjoyed or hated for that matter. Thank you to all who visit.
Oh, and I moved my Google Friend Connect info and share this buttons to the top, as without our friends, who are we?

Kindred in Death By : J D Robb

Kindred in Death (In Death, Bk 29
Author: J. D. Robb
Rating:* * * * 1/2
Hardcover: 384 pages
Publisher: Putnam Adult; (November 3, 2009)
ISBN-13: 978-0399155956

"When the newly promoted captain of the NYPSD and his wife return a day early from their vacation, they were looking forward to spending time with their bright and vivacious sixteen-year-old daughter who had stayed behind.
Not even their worst nightmares could have prepared them for the crime scene that awaited them instead. Brutally murdered in her bedroom, Deena's body showed signs of trauma that horrified even the toughest of cops; including our own Lieutenant Eve Dallas, who was specifically requested by the captain to investigate.
When the evidence starts to pile up, Dallas and her team think they are about to arrest their perpetrator; little do they know yet that someone has gone to great lengths to tease and taunt them by using a variety of identities. Overconfidence can lead to careless mistakes. But for Dallas, one mistake might be all she needs to bring justice."

As Mavis & Peabody would say, "It's mag, simply frosty." As always Robb, has come through for us and offered what no other writer can offer, a throughly Eve Dallas novel. The excitement, the action, and the total horror that comes through will keep you reading nonstop, totally unable to lay the book down. The twists and turns of the murders leaves you marveling that anyone could figure out who the murder was. I have had this book in my hands for two months and resisted starting it. Why? Because the "Fantasy in Death" book won't be out for two more weeks. I actually had all but the last 50 pages read two days ago and worked on my income tax just so I wouldn't pick up this book and finish it. I just couldn't bear to see it end. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because I missed the humor that is there when Eve interacts with characters other than those at NYPSD. I missed the interaction with Peabody and McNab, they are always good for a couple of chuckles. Part of the draw to this series for me has always been the subtle humor and snarky remarks that Eve tosses out to those around her. There were only a few Summerset encounters and none with Mavis and Trina until the last couple of pages. But I only have to wait 12 more days and I'll have another gem to hold on to and try to make it last more a day.

The Lost By: JD Robb, Gaffney,Blayney, Langan

The Lost

Reviewed 2/5/2010
Paperback: 384 pages

"J. D. Robb "Missing in Death" investigates a female tourist's disappearance during a ferry ride. Detective Eve Dallas wonders - if she didn't jump, and she's not on board, then where in the world is she?

Patricia Gaffney "The Dog Days of Laurie Summer", a woman awakens to a familiar yet unsettling world.

Mary Blayney  "Lost in Paradise", a man locked in an island fortress finds hope for freedom in an enigmatic nurse.

Ruth Ryan Langan  "Legacy" belongs to a young woman who unearths a family secret buried on the grounds of a magnificent but imposing Irish castle."

The only reason I bought this book was for the JD Robb, Eve Dallas story. It was excellent as always and really got me in the mood to start Robb's "Kindred in Death". I seldom read anthologies, because as soon as you get involved in the story, it's finished. I always feel like I've been cheated. This is a good way to check out an author and occasionally I discover one that I might have missed otherwise. I quite liked  Gaffney's story, where the character has been hurt in an accident and is in a coma. She comes back as a dog, that takes up with the family that is trying so hard to cope with the possibility that the mother and wife may not return to them. I found it humorous even while I fought tears for the pain of the 5 year old little boy. The other two stories were just so-so but as I only expected to like the Dallas story and bought the book solely for it, I'm still giving it 4 stars.

Witness in Death (In Death, Bk 10) By J. D. Robb

Witness in Death (In Death, Bk 10)
Author: J. D. Robb
Book Type: Paperback
Rating: * * * * *
Review Date: 11/2/2008

"When Lieutenant Eve Dallas attends the opening performance of Witness for the Prosecution, with her husband, Roarke, she and the rest of the audience become witnesses to a real murder. Someone in the theatre had switched the prop knife used in the play with a real knife, so when actor Richard Draco is stabbed on stage, he really dies.
Eve takes on the case, and it soon becomes obvious that the killer has to be someone involved with the play. As Eve begins interviewing her suspects, she learns that everyone who knew him hated Richard Draco, and that every actor on stage with him had a motive for murder.
The case takes a unexpected turn when a stage hand hangs himself in the theatre, leaving a suicide note confessing to the murder. Eve doesn't believe that the man killed himself, but thinks that he knew who the killer was and was attempting to blackmail that person. She begins digging even deeper into the motives of the actors of the play. Along the way learns some startling and disturbing information about Richard Draco's relationships with a few of his colleagues, and eventually figures out who the murder is. Eve then sets up her own "performance" at the theatre to get a confession out of the killer."

Another excellent book about Eve Dallas.
What can I say, I loved it and I hope
there are dozens more to come.

Got this book because of Eve Dallas story by JD Robb. Excellent as always even though it was a short story. Enjoyed Cross's story about the elf from the Santa's North Pole trying to help Santa grant a wish for a liitle girl whose parents had died two years earlier. All in all a very good anthology of stories.

Another excellent book by the master of the "who dunits". Eve is at her peak and Peabody is coming along quite nicely as they work to solve the mimic of historic murderers. Kept me guessing until the end(which is what I like). Roark and McNabb are there to help them out.
