BOOKS AND BLOGGING PHILOSOPHY

Philosophy is defined as a theory underlying or regarding a sphere of activity or thought. Well, my theory is if I can add at least 10 new books to my Wishlist and move at least 5 older Wishlist selections to my TBR list every month, then life is a ice cream sundae. And if I can find those 10 books from at least 5 new blogs each month then that's the cherry on top.

NEW VISITORS AND OLD- WELCOME!

NEW VISITORS AND OLD- WELCOME!
Well, I've made it almost 5 years now, so for better or worse, I continue on. I tend to blog in spurts as the urge to be creative erupts. As I don't have an artistic bone in my body, you will see very few changes in the layouts. Hey, I'm a reader not an artist like so many of the awesome bloggers I follow. I know you don't always have the time but if you stopped and looked, take a half a minute and say your piece. Recommend a book that you have enjoyed or hated for that matter. Thank you to all who visit.
Oh, and I moved my Google Friend Connect info and share this buttons to the top, as without our friends, who are we?

Blog Tour/World Building & Giveaway For GUARDIAN OF SECRETS (Library Jumpers #2) by Brenda Drake

Being a Sentinel isn’t all fairy tales and secret gardens.
Sure, jumping through books into the world’s most beautiful libraries to protect humans from mystical creatures is awesome. No one knows that better than Gia Kearns, but she could do without the part where people are always trying to kill her. Oh, and the fact that Pop and her had to move away from her friends and life as she knew it.
And if that isn’t enough, her boyfriend, Arik, is acting strangely. Like, maybe she should be calling him “ex,” since he’s so into another girl. But she doesn’t have time to be mad or even jealous, because someone has to save the world from the upcoming apocalypse, and it looks like that’s going to be Gia.
Maybe. If she survives.

OTHER BOOKS IN THE SERIES:

Gia Kearns would rather fight with boys than kiss them. That is, until Arik, a leather clad hottie in the Boston Athenaeum, suddenly disappears. While examining the book of world libraries he abandoned, Gia unwittingly speaks the key that sucks her and her friends into a photograph and transports them into a Paris library, where Arik and his Sentinels—magical knights charged with protecting humans from the creatures traveling across the gateway books—rescue them from a demonic hound.
Jumping into some of the world's most beautiful libraries would be a dream come true for Gia, if she weren’t busy resisting her heart or dodging an exiled wizard seeking revenge on both the Mystik and human worlds. Add a French flirt obsessed with Arik and a fling with a young wizard, and Gia must choose between her heart and her head, between Arik's world and her own, before both are destroyed.

Excerpt

After we both tried to discreetly wipe the tears Shelby’s heartfelt words had brought on, she leaned over before handing me a small, dainty bag. I pulled out the little black box tucked inside and opened it to find a sterling silver pendant with three intertwined hearts. There was a note resting beside it that read, ‘These Three Hearts are a symbol of our friendship. It’s connected not only by our hearts, but our souls. For a long moment, I stared at the necklace, and for the first time in my life, was given a gift that touched me so deeply I had no words. I looked up to see Shelby staring back, wide-eyed and worried about my reaction to her gift.
“Well, shit,” I croaked out. “This is beautiful and I love it.”
Shelby sagged with relief before handing Lexi the exact same bag, her voice sweet and nervous still.
“I know it’s not much, but I wanted to give you the same necklace as Gia,” she paused, reaching into her blouse to reveal the same necklace resting against her chest. “I figured this way, no matter where we go, we would always be in each other’s hearts.”

Author Post about the world building in Guardian of Secrets

In my Library Jumpers series, Gia accidentally transports through a gateway book that links the great libraries of the world where she discovers a Mystik world hidden for centuries from humans. The entries into this other realm are behind bookcases within the libraries. The world building for the series includes both the human and Mystik realms.
Hundreds of years ago, wizards, with help from the fey nation, created the Mystik realm to protect creatures with unique exteriors and magical abilities from human persecution. It was to house havens where the Mystiks could live in peace, but with all good things, evil festers and finds a way to destroy what is good. The magic faltered and splintered until the many havens and Mystik places became separated like islands. I chose to have this world be like it was when the Mystiks went into hiding. It includes castles and small villages. And since Mystiks travel to the human world masking their unusual exteriors and concealing their magic, modern technology has trickled into this secret world.
The fey created gateway books for the wizards in order to make travel to the individual wizard havens and villages quicker and easier to access. So the reader is taking on a tour of some stunning libraries with tall ceilings, gilded bookcases, gothic windows, and amazing artwork. To protect it all, the fey produced a force of magical knights called Sentinels to guard the libraries and keep humans safe from rogue Mystiks seeking revenge on humans for past oppressions. The Sentinels use battle globes that have one power such as fire, wind, water, or many other types to fight evil creatures.
In Thief of Lies, the part where she’s in the human world centers on Boston and the libraries. For this second volume, Guardian of Secrets, Gia is on the Mystik hit list and is hiding in Branford, Connecticut with her family, friends, and the Sentinels.  Moving through the most beautiful libraries in the world to the fairy tale villages of the Mystik world, Gia uncovers secrets, finds romance, and must stop an apocalypse. If she survives.

Brenda Drake is a New York Times bestselling author of Thief of Lies (Library Jumpers #1), Guardian of Secrets (Library Jumpers #2), Touching Fate (Fated Series #1), and Cursing Fate (Fated Series #2). She grew up the youngest of three children, an Air Force brat, and the continual new kid at school. She hosts workshops and contests for writers such as Pitch Wars and Pitch Madness on her blog, and holds Twitter pitch parties on the hashtag, #PitMad. When she’s not writing or hanging out with her family, she haunts libraries, bookstores, and coffee shops, or reads someplace quiet and not at all exotic (much to her disappointment).
