BOOKS AND BLOGGING PHILOSOPHY

Philosophy is defined as a theory underlying or regarding a sphere of activity or thought. Well, my theory is if I can add at least 10 new books to my Wishlist and move at least 5 older Wishlist selections to my TBR list every month, then life is a ice cream sundae. And if I can find those 10 books from at least 5 new blogs each month then that's the cherry on top.

NEW VISITORS AND OLD- WELCOME!

NEW VISITORS AND OLD- WELCOME!
Well, I've made it almost 5 years now, so for better or worse, I continue on. I tend to blog in spurts as the urge to be creative erupts. As I don't have an artistic bone in my body, you will see very few changes in the layouts. Hey, I'm a reader not an artist like so many of the awesome bloggers I follow. I know you don't always have the time but if you stopped and looked, take a half a minute and say your piece. Recommend a book that you have enjoyed or hated for that matter. Thank you to all who visit.
Oh, and I moved my Google Friend Connect info and share this buttons to the top, as without our friends, who are we?

Books to Movies Giveaway Hop

Announcing the Books to Movies Giveaway Hop

September 11th to 17th

Hosted by I Am A Reader, Not A Writer
&

As an avid reader I'm never satisfied

with the movie of a beloved book.

There have been some okay ones
but only one where I thought the movie
was better than the book, COLD MOUNTAIN.

What's the best movie you've seen made from a favorite book?

Contest will be open internationally.
I will be giving away
a $10 Amazon/Barnes and Noble Gift card
or I'll let you chose
a book from Book Depository

free to you, you can enter.
Just make sure they ship to you. If not sure,
 check here.

I love to win Gift Cards and

as far as I'm concerned.
For every 50 brand new followers,

I'll give away another $10 Gift card or

It has to be the Lord of the Rings trilogy :)

Hunger Games.. but the Chronicles of Narnia is a close second.. or maybe it should be first

Hi Lisa :) I really think that The Lord of the Rings trilogy was the best book-to-movie adaptation. I'm looking forward to seeing what Peter Jackson does with The Hobbit!
Thanks for the giveaway!

The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe is the best book-based movie that I've seen. It has just the right additions while keeping the plot intact and not adding other major plot points. Unfortunately, the other two were really terrible in those respects :(

Unknown said...

Percy Jackson & The lightning Thief! :)

I thought "The Town" (directed by Ben Affleck) was better than the book, Prince of Thieves by Chuck Hogan. :)

Thank you for an awesome giveaway! :)

I have a deep, undying love for the movie adaptation of To Kill a Mockingbird. It's timeless and still a quality movie, even today.

Alysia said...

This is a hard one since the books are ALWAYS better than the movie. But Harry Potter was GREAT

anme said...

I would have to say that the Princess Bride was a great adaptation of the book, though to be fair I loved the movie for many many years before I ever caught wind there was a book!

Unknown said...

The Lord of the Rings trilogy is probably #1.
Hunger Games is also pretty good!

J Whitus said...

I loved all the Harry Potter movies. But I'd choose the book The Perks of Being a Wallflower. It looks really good.

amy beth marantino said...

Jodi Picoult's My Sister's Keeper. I was not thrilled with the changed ending, but still a good movie made from an outstanding (my favorite) book.

I thought the book to movie adaption of The Help was really good
!

Unknown said...

The Shawshank Redemption from Stephen King.

Wendy said...

Personally, I'm with you. The movie is usually never as good as the book. I feel it's basically because when I read, I have my own thoughts and interpretations as to how I think the book should be and then when I see it on film it doesn't match up to my imagination. And believe me, I have a vivid/exact imagination. For instance, the Twilight Saga was ruined when made into film...but the Hunger Games was pretty close to how I pictured things...except of course they had to leave out some things I thought should have been portrayed. This is a great question! Thank you. wendyrailey@yahoo.com

I think the Harry Potter movies were amazing. Sure, they had some errors, but I'd much rather have them than no movie at all. They really brought the magic to life.

Kasee said...

I think the movie version of Stephen King's Green Mile was absolutely amazing. The books (released as a series) were favorites, but the movie awed me.

BEST book to movie translation? Hmm...for sticking to the original I'd have to say, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, the one with Jonny Depp. Believe it or not (if you haven't read it), it's MUCH closer to the text than the Willy Wonka version!
