True love can’t be strategized.

But nerd-hot Dallas, the sweet new guy in town, sends the mission and Vivian’s zing meter into chaos. While designing software for the bookstore where Vivian works, Dallas wages a counter-mission.

Author Interview

If you found a genie, what would be your three wishes?

1.That I don’t need sleep, so I’ll have more
 time to read and write.
2.That chocolate has no calories and reading burns
 more calories than jogging.
3.World peace – I know it’s a Miss America answer but
it’s true.  No more war and senseless killing and poverty.

What do you hope readers will take away from reading
The Replacement Crush?

First, I hope people have fun reading it, that it makes them laugh and swoon. Beyond that, I hope readers take away the importance of standing up to bullies, and standing up to others when they’re being bullied or threatened. This is especially important in the male/female dynamic and if you read the book you know I feel very strongly about guys standing up for girls.

Also, I hope readers enjoy the strong role that friendship plays in this book. Bromances, girl friendships, male/female friendships, unexpected friendships with others in your community (like senior citizens)- they’re all important and I hope all of my readers have at least one person who is always there for them.

Finally I hope readers take away the importance of following your heart and trusting your intuition when it comes to romance. Good guys give you happy butterflies in your stomach, not stinging wasps.

When you start writing, do you already have an ending
in mind, or do you just let the narrative
go where it takes you?

Depends on the books. This book I knew the grand finale very early on, and it was fun writing to that destination. Other books I might not know exactly how it’s going to end, but I have a good idea of how my characters will grown and change, though sometimes they surprise me.

What’s next for you?
I’m working on more YA contemporaries for Entangled Teen, including more short romances for their Teen Crush ebook imprint and a longer print book that will release in print next August –
my attempt at a Pride and Prejudice retelling.

Lisa Brown Roberts still hasn't recovered from the teenage trauma of nearly tweezing off both eyebrows and having to pencil them in for an entire school year. This and other angst-filled memories inspire her to write YA books about navigating life's painful and funny dramas, and falling in love along the way.
Her almost forever home is Colorado, though she occasionally pines for the days when she lived within walking distance of the Pacific Ocean. Her house is full of books, boys, four-legged prima donnas, and lots of laughter.
