FTC Disclosure: ARC provided by the publisher via NetgalleyA haunted library is no place for a girl who can see ghosts, but when Verity Long stumbles on a dead body in the middle of the main reading room, she has to believe someone even a dead someone must have witnessed the crime. Her ghostly sidekick Frankie warns her to stay out of it. The very alive, very handsome deputy sheriff, Ellis Wydell, inadvertently places her directly in the middle of it. And her ex-fiancé, Ellis's brother, is back with an agenda of his own. Undaunted, Verity presses forward, uncovering scandalous secrets, long-forgotten ghosts, and a shocking trail of clues that places her directly in the path of a killer.
I haven't read the first book in the series
but having read Fox's Biker Witches Mystery
series, I knew I'd enjoy this one too. As always
her characters have you laughing out loud. Verity's
pet skunk is adorable and side-kick ghost, Frankie is
a force to be reckoned with. Having grown up with
Nancy Drew/Hardy Boys mysteries, getting a chance
to help Verity look for clues and find out why and who
killed Darla Grace was pretty awesome. There's just
enough romance to keep it interesting and gotta love
the ghosts at the library even though they seem
destined to relive the last moments of their life.
Though there is a previous book in the series, there
is enough back story to still make reading
this one an enjoyable and fun read. I will
go back and read book one though just
because it was so fun.
